President Uhuru Kenyatta’s led government is committed to supporting sports and talent, Sports CS Amina Mohamed, has said.

Speaking at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani on Thursday during a consultative meeting between different stakeholders in the sports sector, Amina said that the Jubilee government has put in place different measures to promote sports and talents across the entire nation. 

She also said that the national government in collaboration with county governments had launched various projects to support talented Kenyans to achieve their dreams in different areas of specialization.

 “I would like to assure you that President Uhuru Kenyatta takes a keen interest in sports and talent development and as the obligated Ministry, we are focussed on creating an ideal environment that will ensure the realization of this agenda,” she said.

She also praised different agencies for the support they have accorded Kenyan youths in talent development. 

Amina said that it takes different stakeholders to work together for the government to nurture youths who want to play at different professional levels. 

She added that there are more programmes underway to promote sports and talent. 

The meeting was attended by Kirimi Kaberia(Principal Secretary of Sports),  Pius Metto (Sports Kenya Director General) and Doreen Odhiambo (KAS CEO).
