Grief engulfed Keroka in Masaba North, Nyamira County on Monday after a primary school teacher was found dead in his house.
Keroka chief Kennedy Ndege said Ezekiel Maranga was last seen on Sunday entering his house but could not show up to work on Monday, forcing neighbours to break the door.
"Maranga hails from Nyakoe in Kisii County but he has been teaching at a local school in Masaba North.
"For the years he has worked here, he has been a peaceful person who interacts with everyone. His death has left the public in shock since he was not sick," he stated.
Ndege said were it not for neighbours who raised alarm, the deceased body could have decomposed in his house.
The administrator said probe has commenced to establish what might have caused his death.
Keroka OCPD Walter Apondo opined that the deceased might have died of heart attack but more details will be given once postmortem is done.
"Police officers moved the body to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue where postmortem will be done to reveal the cause of death. We can not attribute his death to murder or suicide," said Apondo.
