Two robbery with violence suspects on Thursday morning escaped from Ruiru Police Station after they overpowered a police officer who was manning them.
The two suspects, Wyclif Kori Achola and Denis Atitwa Atenya fled the cells at the police station after wrestling down a police officer who was on duty.
Police have now launched a search for the two suspects who left the station at around 5 am this Thursday.
“The report office personnel, he heard one prisoner namely Wyclif Kori Achola, knocking the cell door shouting that he had a running stomach and required to be escorted to the toilet,” the OB report read.
As the officer tried to direct the suspect to the toilet, a second suspect emerged from the cell and together, they roughed up the officer and strangled him.
They scaled a perimeter wall at the station and escaped.
“While he was closing the door cell for him to go back inside, the said prisoner jointly with the second prisoner namely Denis Atitwa Atenya, pushed the door back. They both overpowered, the officer, they came outside the cells and strangled the officer who fell. Both managed to climb the cell wall and escaped away," a report from the station added.
The suspects were facing robbery with violence charges. They had been arrested by officers from Githurai Kimbo Police Command back in September.
They had been moved to Ruiru Police Station before they could be presented to the court.
