Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Friday hosted Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his Kisumu counterpart Anyang Nyong'o at Nyali Beach Resort.
Other guests were Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno.
"Honoured to host the Governors of Nairobi and Kisumu and the Deputy Governor of Uasin Gishu County H.E Daniel Chemno and Hon. @EugeneLWamalwa the Cabinet Secretary for @Devolution_254 during the Kenya Cities Forum held at the Nyali Beach Resort | @AnyangNyongo @MikeSonko" Joho tweeted.
The leaders met during the Kenya Cities Forum where they discussed how to fund service delivery in Kenyan major cities.
Nairobi capital city, Mombasa port city and Kisumu lake city have received less funding to improve infrastructure to standards that can cope with their population.
"Indeed there existed a funding gap for infrastructure development and other service sectors for the large cities from the onset of devolution. It is through this initiative that we look to achieve sustainable funding for our cities moving into the future," he posted.
The plan to increase funding to the three counties comes when the Division of Revenue Bill, 2019 has attracted supremacy battle between the Senate and Parliament.
“It is unfortunate that every day has turned out to a competition between the two Houses while Kenyans are now suffering the brunt of this standoff. With all due respect, agree with me that there is no money so that the little available funds can be released so that Kenyans can be served,” Uhuru on Wednesday said.
