The heavily popularized consultative meeting is scheduled to take place at the Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday, with a number of area leaders having since confirmed their attendance.

In a tweet on Thursday, Etale said that the function will also allow locals to make contributions to the already existing list of proposed amendments dubbed the BBI report.

"All roads in Western on Saturday will lead to Bukhungu Stadium for the BBI Western Region Consultative Forum. The people of the Western Region will have an opportunity to air their views on what they want with regard to the Building Bridges process," he said.

However, the forum has been questioned by a section of other politicians from the region, who are planning their own function at the Nabongo Grounds in Mumias, within the same county.

The group is largely made up of lawmakers from the Jubilee Party and their colleagues allied to Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya).

However, their permit to converge at the venue has since been cancelled by area police.
