Four people have been arrested for allegedly raiding a lodging in Eastleigh, Nairobi and robbing six million shillings from two businessmen.

Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo confirmed the 1 am incident on Saturday stating that among those arrested include three police officers.

He said that the money which was in US dollars, only 3.5 million shillings have been recovered so far.

He said that one officer is on the run and he is being pursued. Ndolo said that this could be a case of an inside job and a man believed to have notified the gang about the cash is being pursued by the police.

The businessmen told the police that they were forced to surrender the cash after gunmen broke into the lodging they had booked.

However, they were able to raise alarm before the suspects flee were police officers who were in the patrol were able to intercept the suspects.

Three pistols, 45 rounds of ammunition and a communication gadget were recovered from the suspects.

The suspects are being held at Pangani police station waiting for arraignment in court on Monday.

The incident comes just three days after three police officers were arrested along Thika -Garissa highway transporting 245 kilograms of bhang and other contraband goods.
