A man was on Wednesday arrested in Juja for operating a liquor shop with a fake permit for the past one year.
According area OCPD, Isaac Thuranira, the man was arrested early today at around 10am when police on patrol went into his shop after they saw two men inside drinking.
He added that the police arrested the two men who were drinking at that time.
Thuiranira explained that thereafter, the shop attendant was also arrested and police demanded the business permit. He added that the man showed a permit displayed in the shop which, after police check, turned out to be a fake permit.
The OCPD explained that the man has been operating with the fake permit for over five months without being recognised.
“The fight against illicit brew doesn’t mean that now people should wake up early and visit wines and spirits joints. It’s a crime to drink before the stipulated time,” he said.
He added that the three will be charged in a court accordingly.
