Three bodies have separately been retrieved from waters in Athi River sub-county.
Two of the bodies were on Sunday retrieved from River Athi at Kasuitu village in Athi River town on Sunday morning.
The bodies belong to boys aged eight and ten.
Athi River deputy county commissioner Albert Kimathi said the children reportedly drowned in the waters while on a swimming spree at Kitengela, Kajiado County on Saturday before the bodies were traced in Kasuitu where they were retrieved by local divers.
“The two children are not from Athi River Sub County, they drowned in River Athi at Kitengela, Kajiado County before being dumped at Kasuitu by thewaters,” said Kimathi.
They were immediately handed over to Kitengela police in Kajiado County.
In another incident, the body of a 20-year-old Enock Mwanzia, from KMC estate in Athi River town was retrieved from a dam in Mto wa Mawe area on Friday and moved to Machakos Level Five Mortuary.
Kimathi said the man was washing clothes in the company of two teenage girls before he reportedly slipped into the dam and drowned.
He said it is suspected the man was under the influence of drugs.
Kimathi said the girls failed to report in time for the man to be rescued.
He said all the incidences were accidental hence called on the residents to be careful to prevent more related deaths.
The commissioner urged parents from the region to bar their children from getting to the rivers and dams without being accompanied by adults.
