Three candidates who contested for the Kitutu Chacha South MP seat by-election where former MP Richard Onyonka won have conceded defeat.

Jubilee party candidate Antony Kibagendi, Samuel Omwando of ODM party and Andrew Maubi of Wiper party congratulated Onyonka on his win.

The three urged the winner to serve residents diligently without discriminating those who didn't vote for him.

Onyonka emerged a winner after he garnered 10,122 votes beating his closest rival Kibagendi who got 5,074 while Omwando came third with 4,324 votes and Maubi managed 2,191 votes.

Kibagendi said it was a worthwhile battle lost to a worthy rival.

"The election has enabled me to believe in myself since I was vying for a Jubilee ticket in a constituency believed to be an opposition stronghold," he said.

Maubi noted that in any competition, there is always a loser and a winner.

"We all vied but only one was to win. It is a time we move on. There is always next time," said Maubi.
