The nation has been thrown into mourning again after a Matatu rolled at Tiva Bridge on Kitui-Machakos highway on Monday leaving three people dead. Eleven of the passengers sustained minor and major injuries following the accident.
The conductor of the Matatu is among those who perished during the accident.
Confirming the incident, Kitui base commander Charles Nyaga said that the incident took place at 10.30 a.m.
He also said that the vehicle lost control before veering off the road leading to the untimely deaths.
"The driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting a cyclist coming from the opposite direction. He lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road. The matatu landed on its side," he said, as quoted by Star.
