Tanzanian president Magufuli Pombe was in Kenya last week. Many people had only heard of his actions on media but now they got to witness his down-to-earth character when he walked on foot on the streets of Nairobi. This image created by such a leader has left Nairobians wondering how a whole president could dare walk on foot.

Well, here are some lessons our political leaders can learn from his action.

1. They are special but equal to any other human

At times you have witnessed this, there is heavy traffic but our traffic police keep us waiting in the name of ‘acha mhesimiwa anapita’. This acts pisses me off. I mean if we elected them we didn’t mean they are superior. Leaders, take it positively.

2. Put interest of others first

When President Magufuli arrived in Kenya, I was sure beyond any doubt that he had an agenda which he wants to deliver. This shows how he values the agenda - people’s welfare - than his own comfort in the state fueled vehicles. He remains to be Africa's hero.

3. Public exercising is healthy

How many have seen our political leaders exercise in public? Perhaps one or two but Magufuli’s walking is not just to save time but a healthy exercise. At times our leaders should leave their vehicles at home and walk to work. It is not a crime at all.
