Deputy President William Ruto is said to be determined to have three of his close allies nominated to cabinet, a source has revealed.
With President Uhuru Kenyatta reportedly having reservations with the names, Ruto is said to have refused to engage Uhuru until the three are included.
"They are both principals and each has his preferred candidate and this complicates the matters," said the Borabu politician, a close ally of Ruto who did not wish to be named.
He added: "But seems three of Ruto's nominees seems to be having issues. This is the reason why there seems to be a stand off."
Among those preferred by Ruto include Ababu Namwamba, a former ODM Secretary General and LPK leader.
Also considered by the country's second in command is Ex-Agriculture Minister Davies Chirchir and Esther Koimet, a daughter to former KANU strongman Nicholas Biwott.
Despite reported rift between the two principals, Ruto has often dismissed the speculations insisting the Uhuru should be allowed to assemble his preferred team without pressure.
