Three people have been held at Matuu Police Station over a car theft in Yatta, Machakos County.
Police nabbed the trio in possession of a stolen car along Emali-Oloitoktok road on Thursday.
The vehicle was allegedly stolen from a taxi driver in Kimangu area in Matuu location.
The incident was confirmed by Yatta police boss Eric Ng'etich.
Ng'etich said the suspects were nabbed while on their way to Tanzania.
He said the case about the stolen vehicle had been reported at Matuu Police Station where the registration number of the vehicle was circulated and the car tracked.
"The vehicle was stolen from a taxi driver in Kimangu, Matuu. He reported the matter to Matuu Police Station where we were able to track the vehicle along Emali-Oloitoktok road where the trio was arrested," Ng'etich said.
"The suspects were on their way to Tanzania before their journey was cut short," he added.
The suspects are believed to have been in their way to sell the car before their plan was foiled.
Ng'etich said the trio will appear in Kithimani law courts today and be charged.
