A deserted Raila Odinga was encouraged to take oath of office as people's president by three top strategists, reveals Saturday Standard.

With Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi having left Raila stranded at DusitD2 hotel, Kalonzo Musyoka had deliberately abandoned the final meeting.

"A few minutes after noon, Mudavadi and Wetangula left only to refuse taking calls later," said the source.

But Siaya Senator James Orengo, businessman Jimmy Wanjigi and Mombasa Governor Haasan Joho are said to have pushed Raila to go to Uhuru Park.

At the hotel, the source adds, Orengo promised to offer free legal services if they were arrested after the event.

"Orengo was clear that the whole matter was legally insulated and he was ready to defend them in courts," a source said.

Since then, the three principals have since defended their absence from the event on grounds which NASA supporters have termed 'flimsy'.

At Mombasa on Friday, thousands of NASA supporters thronged to streets to back Joho for top NASA leadership.
