According to the county boss, no police officer is authorized to assault anyone since everyone is protected by the law.

“It doesn’t mean that a police officer can attack and injure a common citizen and go unpunished. Investigations have been launched after the assaulting incident of a boda boda rider by the three officers who were on duty. The officers will get a punishment if found guilty to serve as an example to the rest of the officers,” he said.

Nakoru called on boda boda riders in Nyamira County not to shy off from reporting any officer who harasses or assaults them saying the government will sack, arrest and prosecute such officers tainting the name of the security team in the country.

“Police officers are not above the law. Riders should report any officer harassing them for legal action to be taken against such officers,” he noted.

He warned police officers against using a lot of force when discharging their duties.
