The decision by Deputy President William Ruto to skip Friday's briefing of President Uhuru Kenyatta, where some nominees to cabinet were unveiled, may have been precipitated by sharp divisions between the duo, reports the Sunday Nation.

Unlike in the past, the DP missed the event, despite being within the country, with his allies refusing to comment on the unfolding events.

"He is in the country and that is all I can say. I know what you people are looking for but you won't get it," said David Mugonyi, a spokesman of Ruto.

But in depth investigations by the Nation reveals that Ruto may be uncomfortable with inclusion of three people, believed to be allies of Senator Gideon Moi to cabinet.

Before August polls, President Uhuru, without Ruto, met the firebrand senator in which they are believed to have cut a deal.

"Ruto wants to shape the cabinet to suit his 2022 ambitions and that is why he wants a bigger say," adds the Sunday Nation.

Among those fronted by KANU that Ruto is opposed to are Nick Salat, Kiprono Kittony and Isaac Ruto, both who are close allies of Moi.
