As was reported by The Star on August 15, this year, this is what The Independent Party, TIP leader Kalembe Ndile said concerning his plans of vying for an MP seat.
"Mavoko MP Patrick Makau should brace himself for a bruising battle next year as I have been on the ground long enough. I am a resident of Syokimau and I will contest and win."
But it does not even require an keen eye to see that the former Kibwezi west MP is going to lose terribly.
First, unlike Makau, he is not in touch with the people of Mavoko. He is a former MP of Kibwezi. In the last general elections, he vied and lost the Kibwezi west parliamentary seat. What makes him think he'll win in Mavoko?
Secondly, when he served as an assistant minister of Tourism and Wildlife from 2006-2007, he did not do much to prove his leadership qualities. No wonder his political journey started spiraling downwards.
Thirdly, he is using a party that is not popular in Mavoko. Ndile should re-think his strategies lest he burns his fingers.
