Deputy President William Ruto has reportedly established three strategies that would enable him to win Gusii community votes in 2022.
The country's second in command has launched a charm offensive in the populous region that has traditionally voted for Raila Odinga, holding a series of meetings with local leaders.
And through a section of MPs loyal to him, the team has laid down strategies that would sway the region in Ruto's favour with formation of a single political outfit being in the making.
"We shall organise fundraisers across every constituency whose guest will be Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i," said an MP who spoke in confidence.
"We shall also inform our people that Matiang'i will be the running mate for Ruto and this would fuerther prepare our people psychologically.
"Also, we shall visit churches, schools and funeral gatherings to convince locals to support Ruto in return that Matiang'i becomes the DP," he said.
Sadly, the Sunday meeting at Naivasha in which the strategies were laid was boycotted by Nyamira governor John Nyagarama and his Kisii counterpart James Ongwae.
Also, senators Okong'o Mogeni (Nyamira) and Sam Ongeri, who are equally influential snubbed the meeting.
