Crime suspect handcuffed. [Photo/Standard.)Three suspects were on Thursday evening arrested by police in Igonga division for allegedly assaulting a man before stealing his mobile phone and cash at Raganga area, Bogusero ward in Kitutu Chache South, Kisii County.
According to Josephine Jomo, the victim’s aunt, the suspects attacked her nephew on Tuesday evening.
“The suspects attacked and injured my nephew under unclear reasons. Good Samaritans who found the victim in pain after the attack rushed him to Nyamagundo level 4 Hospital where he was treated and discharged,” she said.
She said the family reported the matter to Igonga police station on Wednesday but the suspects failed to appear at the station when they were summoned prompting to their arrest.
Mrs Jomo said the suspects robbed the victim Sh7, 000 and a mobile phone valued at Sh5,000.
A police officer who spoke with confidence said the suspects were transferred to Gesonso police station after they refused to pay to give back the phone and cash they stole.
“We arrested and took them to Gesonso police station when they failed to agree to pay for medical bills and give back the cash and phone they stole from the victim. They will be taken to court anytime to face assault charges,” said the officer.
