Many Kenyans do believe that a developed town should be having these tall structures, something that is definitely very true.

Now here are the three tallest buildings in Eldoret town that you ought to know;

Moi University Pension Scheme Plaza (MUPs)

The 26-storey tower has apparently changed the skyline of the town and overshadowed all the other existing tall buildings in Eldoret. The precious landmark, Moi University Pension Scheme Plaza (MUPs) tower, is located in the center of the town along Eldoret-Nairobi highway. Currently, it is the tallest building in the western region.

So what makes this tall structure so unique than the others? It is composed of a swimming pool, health club, restaurant, multiple floor car parks, penthouse and an expensive office space. It has five dedicated floors that will be used for parking. Office space ranges from about 54 squares meters to the entire floor.

The Moi University Scheme Complex Tower has 17 dedicated and designated office floors from the 7th to the 23rd floor. With the onset of devolution and the influx of numerous companies setting up their regional offices in the Northern Rift of the country, the limited office space in Eldoret town has been a challenge.

It is very clear that this plaza is going to be a mother of all the saviors. Major companies aiming to invest set base in MUPs includes National Media Group, which has set up a replica of its Nairobi’s National Center.

Movement from one floor to the other is facilitated by modern high-speed lifts. That is definitely an advantage to the ‘heavy' people who find it hectic going through the stairs. The building also has dedicated ramps that cater for movement of heavy cargo and to help people with disabilities.

The Moi University Scheme Complex Tower is said to be the first building in the North Rift with perforated aluminum skin wall that provides solar shading. The tower has a full powered lighting system, around the clock, CCTV surveillance within and outside the building, as well as sufficient internet connection.

The Kerio Valley Development Authority Plaza (KVDA- Plaza)

The KVDA used to be the tallest building in town just before MUPs came into existence. The 14-storey building that took Sh400 million to be constructed is now the second tallest building in Eldoret, the city of champions.

The building has an international center fitted with modern gadgets and can hold more than 400 people at the same time. To come up with income, the management has segmented some spaces to several businesses as offices, a restaurant, and other investments.

Construction of the plaza’s southern wing is said to have stalled close to twenty years ago. KVDA management, however, decided to expand it. This led to the construction of the building’s second wing which was completed in June 2016. The completion of this new project has seen an increase in the amount of income from what was previously being raised.

Since the completion of this second wing, it is believed that it has already brought in more than Sh160 million.

The White Castle building

The White Castle is said to be about 31 meters high and consists of nine floors. It is the third tallest building in Eldoret town. Despite the fact that it is among the oldest structures in town (constructed back in 1980) it happens to be one of the largest motels in Eldoret, the White Castle Motel.

The motel is known to offer a friendly environment to both tourists and business travelers visiting the town and the surrounding areas. All rooms in this building are comfortably furnished, and fitted with modern facilities such as telephones, TVs, and comfortable beds. Some facilities that are offered at white castle include; a satellite TV, Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and parking.
