Three teachers from a Nyandarua county school are still at large after they allegedly beat a class one boy on Thursday. The boy was reported to have sustained serious injuries on his genitals.
According to his mother Mary Wangeci, she got the report of her child's situation when she arrived at the school after he was informed of the incident through a call from the head teacher.
Wangeci said that she gathered from other children that her son was found playing in a class by Macharia - a standard three-class teacher.
"The information I got from the children is that my son was found playing and it was then that he was beaten up by three teachers in the staffroom. He started bleeding in his private parts when he returned to class," said Wangeci.
She said that she took the boy to Ngano dispensary where he received first aid before being referred to Nyahururu hospital.
According to Dr. Wambui Ngatia, who was in charge of the dispensary at that time, the boy was getting better though he appeared traumatized.
"The boy is now in stable condition, he is able to walk, pass urine, and feed on his own," she said.
The incident caused protests by residents on Friday who demanded the arrest of the three teachers.
However, Nyandarua West OCPD Charles Cheruiyot said that police had launched a manhunt for the three teachers who are still at large.
