The war of words between the executive and judicial arms of government may take another twist after Chief Justice David Maraga on Friday defended judges from alleged biase.
At tough speaking Maraga accused Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i of intimidating judges.
"Judges make decisions based on the law. If you aren't satisfied, because they are human, you can appeal," he said.
Early this week, the outspoken CS accused 'evil judges' of colluding with civil society and activists lawyers to 'embarrass' government.
The controversy surrounding citizenship of lawyer Miguna Miguna had tested the cold relationship between the two arms, with Matiang'i claiming that he has written to JSC over the conduct of five judges.
"We cannot work like this. There is a clique of judges who are determined to embarrass the government by conspiring with activist lawayers. We have written to JSC," he said.
Although he did not mention names of judges, Matiang'i has previously raised issues with judges handling Miguna's saga.
Top on the list is head of Judicial Review George Odunga, who Jubilee administration accuses of working with opposition.
Also in the list are Judges Chacha Mwaita and Luka Kimaru, both who have ruled severally against the government over Miguna's tribulations.
It is not the first time the two arms of government are at loggerheads given President Uhuru Kenyatta had differed with Maraga last year.
