A three year old girl died in Gatundu Town on Sunday after she was run over by a lorry.
The accident followed after a motorbike they were riding on lost control.
Gatundu South OCPD Bernard Muli confirmed the incident saying that the motorbike rider was trying to overtake a lorry when a pedestrian confused him.
"That lead to motorbike loosing control and eventually the girl fell down where the lorry ran over her. The motorbike was coming from Muthurumbi Village here in Gatundu South,” said Muli.
"The girl died on the spot while the mother and the motor bike rider sustained serious injuries hence being admitted at Gatundu District Hospital,” added Muli.
Consequently, the OCPD has now asked bodaboda riders in the area to be extra cautious when carrying passengers to avoid such deaths.
"We will not condone reckless driving. We will arrest bodaboda riders who found contravening traffic rules,” said Muli.
The girl's body was taken to Gatundu District mortuary.
