More than 30 women and children benefited from Beyond Zero Campaign that reached Sigona Ward Residents on Friday as long queues witnessed proved ‘hanger’ for more free Health Care facilities in the community.
The campaign which has reduced the maternal death rate was highly welcomed in the Ward, thanks to the area MCA Mutonya Njenga who introduced the initiative in his Ward to spearhead the campaign by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
According to the MCA, many women in Sigona have lost their lives during child delivery while others have no enough capital to get proper medication in hospitals.
He said that the campaign will greatly impact positively on the residents since they will now access health centre with greater ease as opposed to the previous days where health status of the community was deteriorated due to lack of enough of such facilities.
“The Beyond Zero Campaign will help our mothers and children who suffer from HIV/AIDs and maternal death due to provision of services easily as compared to the previous time where people could take forever to be offered a service on the same,” said the MCA.
Njenga expressed his concerns about the increased number of HIV/AIDs victims in the Ward sayingg that the campaign will help reduce worries mothers and children have concerning the killer disease in the community.
Aida Wangeci who is one of the patients at the clinic told the press that the initiative will help her overcome challenges she has faced in her life since the moment she delivered her first child at home.
Wangeci said she has undergone complications and could not afford the hospital bill which was straining her and the husband whom, according to her, earns a very low income.
She extended his gratitude to Margaret Kenyatta for the Beyond Zero Campaign which she says will greatly reduce deaths of children and mothers.
Njenga also shared the same sentiments and revealed that soon there will be establishment of a modern clinic in the Ward that will help reduce deaths of the children and mothers.
