Thirty Chinese betting machines have been confiscated in Matungulu sub-county in an operation spearheaded by the area deputy county commissioner Patrick Mwangi during the weekend.
Addressing the press in Tala police station, Mwangi noted with concern that the betting game is slowly taking root not only in Matungulu sub-county but also the whole country at large.
He said the game is not only promoting idleness among the youths but also rooting for insecurity in the region since these places also act as a den of criminals.
"These betting games are not licensed and therefore they are illegal and for that they should not be allowed to continue operating," said Mwangi.
He said it was absurd that the owners of these betting games allowed kids under the age of 18 to engage in the game.
The DCC observed that the operation won't stop until they turn every betting den upside down. Mwangi urged parents to keep their children busy and take advantage of the long vacation to bond with them saying that during this long vacation children may be introduced into social vices.
