More than 30 Kisii University students have been arrested for taking part in riots which happened on Monday.
The riots left a trail of destruction in and outside the campus.
The students were arrested during a protest that paralysed learning at the University on Monday.
Tension was high at the University on Tuesday after the arrest.
The students were arraigned at Kisii magistrate court on Tuesday and charged with destruction of private and public property.
The students denied charges and were released on a Sh10,000 bond and a surety of the same amount and a cash bail of Sh5,000.
The case will be heard on 7th December 2016.
The students are among those suspected to set ablaze the fee collection office, school of law office, residential house and stoned several offices among them an administration block.
The Universities public relations office said they are conducting the assessment for the worth of the property that was destroyed.
