Speaking at the same station, he termed the outcome as a good indicator and was happy that he performed better than Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi on a similar poll.

“That’s a good start. Musalia scored 2% on a similar poll,” said Ababu.

Namwamba defended his party’s decision to back the re-election of Uhuru Kenyatta as president citing the performance of his administration on solving peoples’ problems and improving their lives.

“Why do we get in leadership? Why do we get elected? To make lives better. Budalang’i is a victim of geographical setting. Previous governments promised to build a bridge for the people of Budalang’i but failed. President Uhuru visited Budalang’i after a boat tragedy, the people presented a memorandum for a bridge to be built and today the bridge construction is about to be complete. That is an indication of performance,” said Namwamba.

The lawmaker further affirmed his decision to quit the Orange party was influenced by ideological differences he had with the party which was made manifest during the botched ODM elections. “The actions of the men-in-black proved the party to be undemocratic,” said Namwamba.
