At least 30 suspected thugs were shot dead by police in Nairobi in December 2017 alone.

According to Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome those killed by the bullet were gunned down both within the CBD and selected crime-prone of the city.

Those killed, he said were aged between 20 and 25.

"Our officer managed to neutralize 30 suspected thugs in Nairobi in the last month of 2017 alone," Koome said as he addressed the media in Nairobi Sunday.

He promised that police will not hesitate to execute shot to kill orders as along as they are convinced the city is still insecure.

One of the last killing occurred at Kawangware's Gatina area last week where four suspected motorcycle thugs were shot dead by police as they tried steal a motorbike parked outside a hotel in the area.

Thuggery incidents have of recent been on the rise in the city.

Two weeks ago a photo went viral on social media showing seven well-dressed men mugging a woman in broad day light outside Nation Centre along Kimathi Street.
