Speaking on Tuesday during the flagging off of the beneficiaries to Kasarani for an induction exercise, Thika Branch Equity Bank Senior Business Growth and Development Manager Samuel Karanu said that it had been hard for the selection board in settling for the 30 beneficiaries.

"It was a very rigorous exercise and it was not easy to settle at the 30 students. All the 250 of them from Thika East and West were needy cases, unfortunately we could only sponsor a few of them. It is my hope that those we could not sponsor will find other sponsors because they are equally bright and need assistance," said Karanu.

Karanu also thanked the parents of the beneficiaries for cooperating with the District Scholarship Selection Board which was responsible for vetting of the 30 students.

He at the same time wished the sponsored students success while asking them to go and work even harder when they get to high school.

"When you go out there, don't let us down. We expect you to be real agents of change and achieving success should be your main goal," added Karanu.

The event was attended by various education stakeholders drawn from the sub county education office, county government and the CDF office.
