Kiambu County TNA coordinator Gladys Chania has challenged women in the county to take part in active politics and leadership.

Speaking during the Kiambu Women Leadership Conference organised by the National Council of Churches Kenya (NCCK) at Jumuia Resort Hotel in Limuru on Tuesday, Chania said that women have a chance to advance their interests through leadership and politics.

She told women not to fear politics saying that it will shape them to be great servants of the society.

“Women should not shy away from taking part in active politics and leadership but should embrace it firmly and be able to take part in political and governance matters,” she said.

Chania observed that the constitution has empowered women politically adding that they should take advantage of the empowerment to advance their interests.

She stated that the constitution agitates for equal representation in leadership positions saying that women should not keep quite as their rights on leadership representation are infringed.

The coordinator asked women unite together and focus on issues that will bring change to the country.

Chania said that women play an important role in developing the society.

“As women we must stand and take part in positive change so that our society can move forward,” she stated.

The TNA coordinator asked the national and county government to initiate more programmes that will empower women towards development.
