Garissa Township MP Aden Duale launched the programme in Garissa on Thursday.
The programme was recently unveiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta and is expected to be rolled out country wide.
The president allocated Sh12 billion for the scheme.
Uhuru launched the social welfare programme and said the Jubilee administration will cater for the welfare of “senior Kenya citizens”.
“I have launched the Inua Jamii programme, a social welfare programme aimed to benefit the senior citizens above 70 years. Over 300 citizens participated,” the Parliament Majority Leader said Thursday.
“The registration closes end of August 2017 and from January 2018, those listed will start receiving from the social security benefits where they will be getting a monthly stipend and a health insurance cover for every individual.”
“This is one of the Jubilee administration’s pledges aimed at uplifting the community standards of living and supporting our senior citizens.”
