Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament (MP) Richard Onyonka has claimed that all candidates who have been cleared to vie for the Kibra Parliamentary seat want to teach ODM leader Raila Odinga a political lesson.
Speaking during NTV’s AM Live Show on Monday morning, Onyonka who was elected on a Ford Kenya Party ticket said that the candidates are moving in Raila’s territory to prove that he is not that strong.
“All this candidates, and this is very interesting to me. All this candidates actually when you sit and you listen to them out there to the public, you find that all of them want to teach Raila a lesson. In other words, they are actually moving into Raila’s territory they are saying we don’t think he is that strong,” said the MP.
Kibra was hived from Lang’ata Constituency ahead of the 2013 general elections.
Odinga was Lang’ata MP for several years. The Kibra Parliamentary seat fell vacant after the death of Ken Okoth in July. A by-election has been set for November 07.
The Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has cleared over 10 candidates to try their lack in filling the shoes of the late Okoth.
Among the front-runners for the seat are ODM’s Bernard Otieno, alias Imran Okoth, ruling Jubilee Party’s former footballer-turned-politician Macdonald Mariga Wanyama, ANC’s Eliud Owalo and Ford Kenya’s Khamisi Butichi.
