Three suspects were on Monday charged in connection with the murder of Rai cement factory manager Chetan Vyas last month.
The three, Daniel Ruto, Michael Nicholas Mibei and Hilary Cheruiyot Kemboi pleaded not guilty before Kericho Chief Magistrate George Kimanga.
In a charge sheet seen by Citizen Digital, the three were charged with robbery with violence on 22 and 23 September, 2019 night at Rai Cement Company Limited in Kipsitet area in Sigowet/Soin Sub-county within Kericho County.
They were accused of stealing the late Vyas Samsung mobile phone which had Safaricom and Airtel SIM cards, five suitcases with unknown items inside of unknown value.
The Kericho Chief Magistrate George Kimanga ordered the three, who were charged, to be remanded at Kericho Police Station until tomorrow (Tuesday) when their bail applications will be determined.
The bail was applied by Advocate Momanyi Nyangena who stated that they had stayed in custody for long.
Their lawyer, Gilbert Kemboi, also noted that they were being held illegally as they had spend 21 days in police cells after getting arrested early this month.
Other three suspects, Osman Noor aged 24, Shabdin Ismail aged 38 and Yacob Ali aged 24 were freed after the prosecution failed to provide enough evidence for them to be charged.
