The party, from the level of party leader Raila Odinga, has poked holes into Aukot's push, urging Kenyans to await the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce report.

Speaking on Monday, Sifuna said that ODM's opposition emanates from the fact that Aukot has included some ideas ODM believes belong to it in his amendments push.

Speaking on Citizen TV's Daybreak, he outlined the county allocation increment, a non-renewable seven-year presidential term and the return to the parliamentary system as some of the ideas taken from ODM.

“Our issues are with specific clauses. There are some ideas we (ODM) have lived for and are ours; they are not original ideas from Thirdway Alliance," said Sifuna.

He refuted claims that Aukot's bill is growing into a threat to ODM party, noting that the party is opposed to the rigidity the changes will expose the country to if passed.

"They don't went to make it clear that the bill cannot be amended even if you find a problem in it. Because of the basis of the collection of the signatures you cannot change anything or add anything or remove anything," he added.

He further noted that ODM is not jealous of Aukot for managing to collect the minimum 1 million votes after ODM's failure to do the same in its initial Okoa Kenya bid.
