Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with Gusii leaders days after the pro-handshake team held BBI rally in Gusii.
Most of Ruto's allies led by Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi skipped the meeting, blaming organisers of using public resources.
And almost a week after the rally, Dr Ruto held a meeting with his allies where they discussed "contemporary issues".
North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko on Friday said the meeting was also meant for the re-evaluation of government projects.
"Besides discussing contemporary matters, we also discussed matters development. This is what the DP is keen to realise," he told a gathering in Nyamira.
Emmanuel Tallam, the deputy communications director in the DP’s office confirmed that Ruto was in Nairobi on Thursday afternoon.
“The DP had informal meetings in the afternoon with leaders from Kisii and Nyamira MPs and grass-root leaders’ the whole afternoon,” Tallam said.
Mr Nyamoko described the DP as a development conscious lesser, adding that the campaigns against him are misguided.
He said, "when they meet at the expenses of taxpayers, it's not an issue. When we meet to discuss development with the DP, it's a big issue."
Also absent during the BBI rally were Sylvanus Osoro, Vincent Kemosi and Shadrack Mose of Kitutu Masaba.
