The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Joseph Kivilu has said the 2015 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results will be released on Thursday next week.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Dr Kivilu said the results will be announced by Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i at Mitihani House in Nairobi.

Mr Kivilu said candidates who sat for the examinations will be able to access their results by sending their index numbers through a short text message service (SMS) to 22252 immediately after the release of the results.

The CEO asked the county directors of education to pick their respective results at Mtihani House on the release date.

Dr Kivilu said candidates will have 30 days after the release of the results to make appeals.

At least 525,802 candidates sat for the examination last year according to the examination council.

The examinations were however marred with high cases of irregularities that were reported at various examination centres countrywide.

Furthermore, a five-week teachers strike affected the preparation for the examinations, a situation that is said to have forced some candidates to engage in the irregularities.

Speaking during the release of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results in December last year, Education CS Fred Matiang’i called on the examination council to put in place proper mechanisms to curb exam irregularities.

The council had said that an inquiry had been formed to audit cases of cheating that were experienced and reported last year.

Kiambu County, which has some of the best secondary schools in the country is expected to produce good results in the KCSE results.

In the 2015 KCPE results, Kiambu was ranked among the top counties.

The county, according to KNEC also did not register any cases of examination irregularities.
