Kisii County chiefs have been urged to join the fight against corruption and avoid taking bribes from residents.

Kisii County deputy county commissioner Phillip Soi said that the Ministry of Interior has all measures of ensuring that all officers in the department are well equipped to offer quality services.

Soi was speaking on Wednesday at Gusii Stadium during the marking of International Anti-Corruption Day.

He said that chiefs should offer security to residents without expecting any returns from residents, for example asking for bribes.

“I urge chiefs and assistant chiefs to make use of their offices and campaign against corruption so that we can have a corruption free society,” said Soi.

The residents were also urged to stop giving out bribes for favours.

He added that the office of the commission will support the county government to fight corruption.
