The first flight landed at the Coastal town's Moi International Airport at 5.30 am on Wednesday.

The airline will be operating weekly flights to the airport.

Kenya Airports Authority Ag Manager for Mombasa Danson Mwangi said the flights will boost the county's tourism sector as German tourists will now frequent the region.

“This is the beginning of a bright future as the tourism sector once again begins to blossom. Mombasa is a competitive tourist destination, and Moi International Airport provides an excellent entry point for the Coastal cities of Kenya and the East African Region,” said Mwangi.

This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta waived visa fees for tourists under the age of 16 and reduced park entry fees for foreigners in a bid to increase tourist arrivals in 2016.
