A top Orange Democratic Movement party official died on Sunday night in Bungoma, the party has announced.
Ms Hellen Lukale died in a Bungoma hospital after a short illness, the party added without giving many details.
Until the time of death, Ms Lukale served as the party's chairperson of Kabuchai Constituency in Bungoma County.
ODM described her as a strong member of the party who championed for the party's ideologies in the grassroots.
"We regret to announce the passing on of Madam Hellen Lukale, our Chairlady for Kabuchai Constituency after a short illness," the statement read.
"Hellen was a strong member of the movement who championed the party ideology at the grassroots. We stand with her family at this difficult time of grief."
Incidentally, this comes just hours after the party lost Mama Dorcas Ajwang', the mother to Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang'.
She was also mother to Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang' and former Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang' who died in 2014.
ODM party is currently organising for grassroots polls which will kick off in February 2020. Already, the party has organised online registration.
