At least seven MCAs from Nyamira on Wednesday travelled to Canada for a women conference despite travel restrictions by the Treasury CS Ukur Yatani.
Early this month, Mr Yatani suspended foreign trips both for county and national governments as President Uhuru Kenyatta administration fights to cut down ballooning foreign debts and stalling of projects.
In a statement on Wednesday, Yatani defended the move, arguing that it will help the government save millions that will be used for completion of projects.
"The measures we have put in place are brutal but necessary for running of government. Everyone must adhere to them for posterity," he said.
But despite the recent measures, the women MCAs have arrived in Canada for the Women Conference slated to kick off on Friday (today).
Among those in the trip are Monica Mwamba, former Ms President Second Runners Up Irene Nyakerario alias Renee and Hezna Mokua of Wiper.
And insider in the assembly says Speaker Moffat Teya has been using such trips whether internal or external to entice MCAs against rebellion from a number of them and the executive.
Before going slow, Magwagwa MCA Fred Omayio, who is facing defilement charges at a Nyamira court, used to question endless trips by MCAs outside Nyamira.
"It's pointless to travel all the way to Kisumu for a meeting yet we have same facilities here. The speaker should be honest and suspend such trips," he said in a statement that backlashed among Teya supporters.
For the next one week, all MCAs will convene at Eldoret for CASA games where millions of money is also expected to be spent by all counties.
Teya has been struggling to stamp his authority as third speaker with a close ally of Governor John Nyagarama hinting an impending duel between the two over hiring of ECDE teachers.
