Kittany had appealed for the adjournment of the case to allow her time to mourn the senator’s father but the request was declined.

Through her lawyer Danstan Omari, Ms Kitany said that she wants to attend the funeral because of the strong ties they shared with the deceased.

“On behalf of the petitioner, we are not ready to proceed. She lost her father in-law, who passed on last night. She is mourning and in the process of going to Meru to be part and parcel of the burial programme,” Mr Omari said.

It has now emerged that the father was not a happy man before he met his death because of the son’s woes.

Through Prof George Wajakoyah, Linturi said that the senator’s father was not happy with Marianne after she took her son to court over the alleged marriage.

He also said that the deceased was not happy after the Kitany claimed that she constructed a house for him using her money.

The senator’s lawyer said that the father believed that the sons were able and there is no way a woman could have constructed a house for him.

“To make it worse, a woman from another tribe yet he has able sons. It was scandalous for a Meru elder, a Njuri Ncheke,” he said, as quoted by Daily Nation.

The case was adjourned until Wednesday after Ms. Kitany failed to appear in court.
