Nakuru County Public Health Officer Samuel King’ori has asked head teachers, managers and parents to ensure there are enough toilets in schools.
Speaking in his office Thursday, the county health boss said many schools that they had visited don’t have enough toilets, thus posing a health risk.
He now wants the situation rectified immediately .
"It is the work of managers to ensure there are enough clean toilets in all schools. In most schools that we have visited in Nakuru County, we have found that the toilets are full," stated King’ori.
According to him, 13 per cent of residents in the county do not have toilets, which according to him, is dangerous in regard to public health.
He said the rise in diarrhoea cases in schools is due to lack of enough toilets.
