University and college students from Molo constituency on Tuesday formed an association to advocate for their interests.
Speaking during a forum at Molo Secondary school on Tuesday, Samuel Macharia said that the young people in the constituency need to focus on issues affecting their lives.
“We need to focus on issues as a group of intellects. We have our issues such as bursaries and community-based issues that need our attention. It's only by uniting and having a common voice that we can be heard. It's the only way of making our contribution visible and relevant," Macharia said.
His sentiments were echoed by the Maendeleo Ya Vijana Association of Kenya CEO Kimani Njuguna who had graced the event.
“Unity is a noble course. I applaud your move and I promise to support you,” Kimani said.
The students raised concerns over the way bursaries have been issued in the expansive constituency with claims of favouritism emerging.
"I have been trying to reach the leadership but to no avail. I believe we are entitled to every detail about the bursaries," one attendant, who did not want to be named, said.
Efforts to reach the area Bursary committee were futile.
