Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) should freeze accounts of National Youth Service (NYS) scam suspects till proper investigations are done.
Philanthropist Nyandoro Kambi is now demanding that EACC freezes accounts of the suspects to allow effective and authentic investigations into the saga.
The debate on theft of Sh791 million from the NYS escalated Tuesday when former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru named Majority Leader Adan Duale and Senator Kipchumba Murkomen as masterminds in the fraud.
“The NYS saga is becoming too monotonous to the people of Kenya. We have heard people being mentioned but EACC is only doing summons instead of freezing accounts of the suspects. The accounts should be frozen till credible investigations are done on the matter in question,” he said.
Kambi said freezing the accounts will help the commission unearth the truth on the scandal by preventing the suspects from manipulating evidence.
“There is no question that money was lost and the only thing Kenyans want to know is the people who orchestrated the corruption act. Since a number of people have been mentioned, their bank accounts should be frozen to prevent them from manipulating existing evidence through bank transactions,” he said during an agricultural function held in Borabu on Thursday.
He faulted the anti-graft body for slow investigations and challenged the team to grill politicians who have been adversely mentioned in the saga.
