A Kisii based activist Joseph Kiai has condemned the demolitions at Keroka town carried out by the county government to pave the way for an intended project to build a major bypass to ease congestion in the border town.

He has condemned the government for oppressing its citizens.

“There was no eviction notice given to the victims of the demolition," said Kiai.

"The government should give an explanation for that. That is a breach of the law and the worse part of it, is that it comes from the government,” he added.

Kiai Said the government is mandated to protect its citizens and not use its powers to oppress the innocent citizens.

“This is very unfortunate that the government can intimidate its own citizens in the name of a bypass," said the activist.

"This is an abuse of power by the county government,” he said.

“The actions of the government are illegal and subjective and oppressive and it should give an explanation to the people of Keroka," said Kiai.

The national government should also come in to ensure the citizens are not oppressed," said Kiai.
