Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i will on Friday come face to face with Tanga Tanga brigade, a team allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
While Dr Matiang'i has managed to establish his political network through senior leaders such as Senators Okong'o Mogeni and Sam Ongeri, a group of MPs have been opposing him.
Recently, West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi accused him of doing little in the region, adding that he is not fit to join presidential election race.
"Truth be told, he has done nothing beneficial to people. All projects he's launching are in budget. We want him to bring new projects," he said.
Also, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro and North Mugirango legislator Joash Nyamoko have been sharing similar sentiments.
But Pro-Matiang'i team led by Governor John Nyagarama insists the minister is fit to join big boys politics given his development record.
"As Abagusii, we can contest for presidency. Dr Matiang'i has demonstrated his abilities. Let us support him when that time comes," he said.
On Friday, both Tanga Tanga brigade and Dr Matiang'i will share podium at Nyanturago in Nyaribari Masaba for the burial of Dr Hezron Manduku.
The former legislator died three weeks ago after battling a disease for over two decades. He was a close friend of Dr Fred Matiang'i.
Also expected in the funeral are Mombasa Governor Ali Joho and ODM leader Raila Odinga, a close friend of Dr Manduku and the family.
