Residents of Korongoi sub-location in Bureti constituency, Kericho, have been left in shock after a 26-year-old man killed his father over a cup of milk.
Philemon Kipngetich Ngetich killed his 65-year-old father, Samuel Kipngetich Rotich, during an argument over the cup of milk.
Confirming the incident, Bureti OCPD Felicia Nafula said the suspect committed the crime around midnight.
Nafula said the suspect picked a wooden plank from a broken table and hit his father on the head several times. He further said that the elderly man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to the injuries.
“The victim was rushed to the AIC Mission Hospital Litein where he was admitted with severe head injuries. Unfortunately, at about 1:30 am, the victim succumbed to the injuries,” said Nafula.
The police boss said the suspect escaped after committing the crime but the police managed to trace and arrest him. Nafula confirmed that the matter was reported at around 4.30 am at Litein Police Station by the deceased’s widow.
“We traced that suspect and he is now in custody. He will be arraigned in court once we complete our investigations,” said the OCPD.
The body of the elderly man was taken to the AIC Litein hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
