Makongeni youths have been urged to unite and work together towards a common goal and more so in business.
Speaking on Wednesday at Makongeni shopping centre, Thika District Business Association (TDBA) Secretary General Sam Chege said that youths in the area needed to form a common front and pursue available business opportunities together.
"It is very important for youths who are business-minded and with entrepreneurial spirit to come together and form business groups with an aim of improving their lives. Youths can do much in business than they can do in whatever employment going by their innovative ideas," said Chege.
Chege cited lack of empowerment and mentorship programmes as some of the reasons why young people in the area lacked self-drive in business and called upon established businessmen and businesswomen in the area to come to their aid.
"We must help these youngsters develop interest in business. We must mentor them and show them how to venture in viable business ideas and follow them to the successful end. Let us not just tell them to form groups and go for this or that loan without providing the necessary assistance because those loans won't help them and they will end up in debts," Chege added.
He, however, challenged the youths to show interest in being helped by for instance registering groups through which they can be helped.
