The opinion polls which were printed and dispatched to several regions in the area showed JAP candidates given an upper hand of winning all MCAs slots in the constituency and other JAP candidates scooping the highest number of votes.

Nyambati had come under scathing attacks from area residents who accused him of paying youths to come up with the polls as a method of influencing voting pattern.

But Nyambati who served the region as MP in 2007-2013 distanced himself from the leaflets and accused his opponents of stage managing the polls to spoil his reputation.

“I can never fund opinion polls or even engage in dispatching leaflets that amount to propaganda. I know people are out to spoil my reputation but history will judge them harshly,” he said.

“The leaflets were just propaganda by people who want to portray me as a leader who is not law abiding," said Nyambati.

"They never told us where and when the polls were conducted and as JAP, we never engage in such propagandas,” he added.

He urged the police to investigate the incident and bring to book people who were dispatching leaflets causing anxiety among residents.

“Whether they support JAP or not, we don’t want to be associated with unlawful things. Let those contesting face electorates because we all have the same chance," said Nyambati.

"We only accept poll results from people who are certified so it’s important for police to investigate the incident,” said Nyambati who is also eying Nyamira gubernatorial seat.
