Machakos county governor Alfred Mutua on Friday presided over the official opening of the ASK -South Eastern Show at the Machakos showground.
Speaking during the event, Mutua maintained his administration's committed to improving the agricultural sector through value addition of farmers' products in the county.
"The Machakos county government remains committed to transforming agricultural practices that lead to value addition and more agri-business opportunities for our people," Mutua said.
The governor further called on the Agricultural Society of Kenya to reexamine the role of agricultural knowledge, science and technology in achieving equitable development and sustainability.
This year's agricultural show is themed "Enhancing Technology in Agriculture and Industry for Food Security and National Growth" which the governor described as "fitting."
